Whitsundays Island Air Taxis

Island air taxis are a popular and convenient mode of transport throughout the Whitsunday Islands. From selected airports on the mainland and the Great Barrier Reef Airport (on Hamilton Island), island air taxis commonly take the form of a Helicopter or Seaplane. With island air taxis servicing the entire Whitsunday region and available to meet any national flight, guests not only have the benefit of fast, reliable transportation, but a chance to experience spectacular aerial views of the reef networks, isolated islands, beautiful Coral Sea waters and the stunning Airlie Beach coastline.

There are a couple of Whitsunday Island air taxi services, which currently and comprehensively service the islands, with fleets of modern Seaplanes and Helicopters. Specifically, transfers to any one of the Whitsunday Islands depart from the Great Barrier Reef Airport on Hamilton Island, Proserpine Airport, Whitsunday (light craft) Airport and the main airports in Mackay, Townsville, Rockhampton and Cairns. Resort islands easily accessible by air taxis include Hayman, Hamilton, Daydream and Long.

Different island resorts in the Whitsundays offer different packages, which may or may not include an inter-island or mainland air taxi transfer. The best way to find out is to contact the reception desk and enquire. For guests that are lucky enough to enjoy an air taxi transfer, aircrafts usually take passengers to a height of approximately 1,000 to 1,500 feet, provide in flight commentary and may even deviate to places of incredible beauty including Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet, Hart Reef or any one of the 74 Whitsunday Islands. Arguably, inter-island air taxi transfers are the most interesting form of Whitsunday Island transportation.
