Whitsundays Australia Time Zone

Situated just off the Queensland coastline, surrounded by the cool waters of the Coral Sea and luckily having the Great Barrier Reef on their doorstep, the Whitsunday Islands are a traveller’s paradise. Consisting of 74 major islands located at staggered intervals from the popular mainland town of Airlie Beach, all the Whitsunday Islands experience fantastic weather and a comfortable climate.

The time zone which applies to the Whitsunday Islands is Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST). The time zone can also be expressed as being ten hours in front of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +10 hours). Located in the southern hemisphere, Australia is such a large country, it actually spans three time zones. So, make sure not to relate the Whitsunday Islands’ local time to all other Australian destinations in different states and territories.

As the Whitsunday Islands can be located in the state of Queensland, they do not experience daylight savings from the last weekend in October to the last weekend in March. Therefore, Queensland is an hour behind New South Wales, the A.C.T, Victoria and Tasmania, half an hour ahead of the Northern Territory and South Australia (who have Central Standard Time, CST), and two hours ahead of the Western Standard Time (WST) state of Western Australia, during daylight saving months.
